Thank you for your interest in participating in a sweepstakes on this site. All sweepstakes on this site are subject to the following terms and conditions. By submitting a sweepstakes entry, you indicate that you have read, understood, and agreed to these terms and conditions.
"Sweepstakes" in this context, and the use of the term "giveaway" when in the context of a sweepstakes, refers to the random-chance selection of winners of prizes. It does not include or refer to free downloads of books that are not prizes, i.e., books that may be obtained by any site visitor on their own without regard to availability of such books to other site visitors.
"Sponsor" in this context refers to Stuart J. Whitmore, author of The Ambitions of Kreltahk and other books. Additional Sponsors may be identified for an individual sweepstakes. If additional Sponsors are identified for any individual sweepstakes, the singular term "Sponsor" shall refer collectively to Stuart J. Whitmore and all such additional sponsors for that specific sweepstakes only.
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED. A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCE OF WINNING.
Winners will be chosen at random from all valid sweepstakes entries, by assigning unique natural numbers in an unbroken sequence to all valid entries for each sweepstakes and using the True Random Number Generator on random.org to select a number within the range of entries. If random selection of winners or any other sweepstakes attribute is prohibited or restricted by law in your jurisdiction, you are not eligible to participate. Odds of winning depend on the number of valid entries received. If no entries are received, then no winner will be chosen and no prize will be awarded.
Each sweepstakes is open only to legal residents of the 50 United States and District of Columbia who are 18 years of age or older, or the age of majority in their state of residence, whichever is older, at the time of entry, as confirmed by a valid government-issued photo identification. US residents stationed on US Department of Defense installations outside the United States under official government orders shall be considered to be residents of their address of record within the United States. Immediate family members (including in-laws, former spouses, and former in-laws), employees, contractors, directors, officers, shareholders, and agents of Sponsor(s) are not eligible to win. Winners are limited to one prize per 30 days and are not eligible to win until after 30 days from their most-recent win.
Prizes are provided at no cost to winners. Individual sweepstakes will specify the prizes, method(s) of entry, and the dates of entry, winner selection, and winner announcement. No substitution, assignment, or transfer of prizes is permitted, except that Sponsor may substitute a prize of equal or greater value in the event Sponsor deems such action necessary. All prizes are awarded "AS-IS" and WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, expressed or implied, except as provided by the manufacturer or other supplier of a prize. All contest dates and times are specific to the then-current US Pacific Time, i.e., either Pacific Daylight Time or Pacific Standard Time.
By entering a sweepstakes you agree that your email address will be added to the general newsletter mailing list for Stuart J. Whitmore. You may unsubscribe at any time. Your sweepstakes entry is considered a request for such email; please do not report requested email as spam. Each newsletter email you receive will include a link to unsubscribe. Transactional emails may not include unsubscribe links. Entry confirmation will be sent as a transactional email upon successful processing of each entry. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify entrants whose confirmation email bounces back as undeliverable.
Winner is responsible for all taxes, fees, and other obligations associated with winning a prize. Winner agrees to allow publication of the winner's name and limited information, such as city and state, as part of the announcement of the sweepstakes winner. Winner may be asked to provide a recent photo for inclusion with a sweepstakes winner announcement, but provision of a photo will be optional. Winner agrees to provide proof of location upon request. If the prize is awarded to an entrant who refuses to provide proof of location, that entrant will be considered ineligible and a new random selection will be made to select a new winner.
Sponsor assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, defect, theft, unauthorized access, destruction, or alteration affecting entries. Unless otherwise specified in a specific sweepstakes, duplicate entries will be merged into one. Sponsor assumes no responsibility for the loss, damage, or destruction of prizes once prizes have been submitted to the control of the carrier selected for prize shipment. In the event a sweepstakes cannot be completed as planned due to causes beyond the control of Sponsor, Sponsor reserves the right to terminate or suspend the sweepstakes without prior notice or to modify the sweepstakes specifically to allow it to continue.
Each sweepstakes on this site is governed by the laws of the State of Washington. Sweepstakes entrants are responsible for compliance with the laws, ordinances, and regulations relevant in their location. Except where prohibited, each entrant agrees: that any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of or connected with the sweepstakes or any prize awarded shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by the state or federal courts situated in Pierce County, Washington; that any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, but in no event attorneys' fees; that no punitive, incidental, special, consequential or other damages, including without limitation lost profits, may be awarded and that all rights to claim such damages are waived.
Entrants are encouraged to keep a copy of these terms for their records.
